K-2 PE Program

SPARK Elementary Physical Education (PE) was designed to be more inclusive, active, and fun than traditional PE classes. Aligned with National Standards, SPARK PE lessons are easy to learn, and easy to teach. SPARK PE has proven to work with both elementary physical education specialists and classroom teachers.

Program Components:

When an agency or organization chooses the SPARK K-2 PE Program, they receive the four components necessary to implement a successful elementary physical education program:

1.Curriculum:

The SPARK K-2 manual includes 10 dynamic instructional units. Each curricular component is presented in scope and sequence via daily lesson plans that are aligned to NASPE National Standards. ASAP’s (Active Soon As Possible), provide an enjoyable warm-up before the main lesson. The SPARK K-2 curriculum also contains academic integration tips (with a special emphasis on literacy), social skills themes by grade level, and challenging extensions for each activity. SPARK K-2 is considered by many to be the easiest to learn and use PE curriculum available today.

SPARKfamily is a password-protected website where you can access a library of digital tools including SPARK videos, interactive alignment and assessment tools, Homeplay activities and other new SPARK resources.

2.Training:

The SPARK K-2 curriculum is a great start – but SPARK is not a book, it’s a program. Over the years, SPARK has tested numerous instructional strategies that are best conveyed during face to face training opportunities. The “what to do” (the lesson plans) come alive when the “how to do it” is provided via SPARK training. SPARK workshops are fun and “hands-on”, and teachers are motivated by SPARK’s dynamic and knowledgeable trainers. SPARK presenters travel worldwide to conduct K-2 workshops on days and at times that are convenient for up to 40 attendees. For more information on K-2 PE Workshops, Click Here.

3.Equipment:

A select team of SPARK PE program developers, curriculum writers, and workshop presenters meet annually to modify SPARK equipment sets (a set includes every item needed to instruct everything in a SPARK manual) that align perfectly with SPARK K-2 PE activities. 4.Follow-up Support:

For a program to work and last, extensive, ongoing consultation must be provided. SPARK demonstrates commitment to follow-up via their unique "SPARK Stars" institutionalization model, by offering FREE, lifetime support to each curriculum/material purchaser and/or workshop attendee through 800 number and e-mail consultation, a monthly webinar series, social networking opportunities and an informational monthly eNewsletter that includes SPARK updates and teaching tips.
