The Active School Acceleration Project is a nationwide competition created to identify successful programs and technologies that promote school-based physical activity. Multiple prizes for innovative physical activity programs ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 will be awarded to select applicants. Programs currently being used in elementary schools are eligible to apply. The Schools Programs category of the ASAP Innovation Competition is open to teams of teachers, administrators, parents, coaches, students and other educators who are involved with an innovative physical activity program in their school or district.

National Association of Chronic Disease Directors
The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors released two different types of Requests for Funding Assistance awards and one Request for Technical Assistance award. The Community Request for Funding Assistance seeks applications from local community coalitions or other local or regionally-based organizations. Communities will be selected to implement policy, systems and environmental change strategies and to enhance or develop a Community Health Action Response Team (CHART). The State Request for Technical Assistance will award technical assistance and travel stipends to states that collaborate with the newly funded communities to provide state-based technical assistance and support to these teams throughout the duration of the two-year project period. A state application is a required component of the 2012 ACHIEVE Community application. Arkansas Tobacco Settlement Commission
The Arkansas Tobacco Settlement Commission has partnered with the Arkansas Department of Education Coordinated School Health Program, Arkansas Children's Hospital, and Arkansas Center for Health Improvement to issue a grant application for the 2012-2013 CWIP grant program. The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth announces its 13th Tobacco Use Prevention & Cessation Programs for Youth Request for Proposals funding opportunity. Virginia organizations (schools, faith centers, community service boards, clubs, etc.) are eligible to submit proposals for the three-year contract period of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015.
In addition to providing tobacco-use prevention and/or cessation programming, organizations may choose to include supplemental obesity prevention programs in their application as well. Individual grant awards will not exceed $60,000 per year ($180,000 total for all three years) to implement tobacco prevention/cessation programs in Virginia communities.
