Saucony Run for Good Foundation

The Saucony Run For Good Foundation is committed to informing the public about the cause and prevention of childhood obesity and provides funding to optimize the impact and success of community organizations that promote running and healthy-lifestyle programs for youth. Approximately 10-20 grants are awarded each year. Nonprofit organizations that demonstrate the program positively impacts the lives of participants through their increased participation in running are eligible to apply.

5/16/13: Ravens Play 60 Grant

Baltimore Ravens All Community Team Foundation

The Baltimore Ravens All Community Team Foundation is committed to improving, encouraging and enabling the healthy development of youth in the Baltimore area, as well as other parts of the state of Maryland. For the seventh consecutive year, the RACTF is executing the Ravens Play 60 Grant which provides funding of up to $5,000 to qualifying nonprofit organizations that create and/or continue programs or projects promoting physical fitness and nutrition education. Programs or projects must be directed at youth (5-18) and must promote physical fitness and/or nutrition education.

5/9/13: Fuel Up to Play 60

National Dairy Council and the National Football League

Funding is available to K-12 schools enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60. The competitive, nationwide funding program can help your school jumpstart and sustain healthy nutrition and physical activity improvements. Funds can be used to conduct in-school promotions focused on creating a healthier school and to implement Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Plays. Funds can also be used for professional development, nutrition education materials, and physical education equipment & materials.

4/22/13: Presidential Youth Fitness Program Grant

The Presidential Youth Fitness Program is a voluntary program that includes an assessment, professional development, and motivational recognition to empower students to adopt and maintain an active lifestyle. The inaugural funding opportunity will facilitate participation in the Presidential Youth Fitness Program for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. SPARK supports the Presidential Youth Fitness Program and we encourage schools to apply for this grant opportunity!

4/15/13: 2013 Chargers Champions School Grant Program

The Chargers Champions School Grant program was created to assist San Diego County schools with meeting some of the basic physical fitness, nutrition and athletic needs of their students. The program annually provides selected schools with grants of up to $75,000 for high schools; up to $40,000 for middle schools and up to $30,000 for elementary schools. Previously awarded projects include outdoor fitness trails, weight rooms, running tracks and SPARK equipment. 3/4/13: LibertyGives Foundation

The LibertyGives Foundation supports causes benefiting underprivileged and at-risk youth in Colorado, focused on proactive and preventative services. LibertyGives is currently accepting proposals for funding from $1,000 to $150,000 from public charitable organizations focused on this theme. To be eligible, charities must provide the funded services, be based in Colorado and be organized pursuant to section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.

2/25/13: Charlotte Martin Foundation Youth Grants

The Charlotte Martin Foundation is a private, independent foundation dedicated to enriching the lives of youth in the areas of athletics, culture, and education and also to preserving and protecting wildlife and habitat. Athletics include a wide range of individual and team sports, with an emphasis on the value of sports for lifelong participation. Funds support sports programs, facilities, equipment and after school programs, with a focus on ages 8-15. Cycle 1 applications will be accepted beginning March 1, 2013.

2/18/13: Keep Gym in School Grant

In 2012-2013, NFL Network is teaming up with NFL Play 60 and the Super Schools program to offer $10,000 grants to schools in 32 team markets and 2 national markets that show their commitment to health and wellness. Individuals may nominate their school between October 15, 2012 and March 1, 2013. Select districts eligible to apply. Keep Gym in School grant winners will be announced at the NFL Draft in April 2013.

2/13/13: Connections for Cardiovascular Health
AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation

The Connections for Cardiovascular Health program awards Foundation grants of $150,000 and more annually to US-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations or similar nonprofit organizations working to improve cardiovascular health in their communities. Community partnerships including schools and after school programs have been previously awarded.

Award Amount: $150,000 - $250,000

2/6/13: WellPoint Foundation Funding

WellPoint Foundation

The WellPoint Foundation invests in domestic initiatives that help improve the lives of people and the health of local communities. The Foundation promotes healthy behaviors, health-risk prevention, and healthy environments. Focus areas include childhood obesity prevention. The Foundation considers both local and national initiatives whose outcomes predominantly impact any of the 14 states in which WellPoint, Inc. does business. Eligible organizations include tax exempt organizations, schools, government units, and hospitals. Cycle One 2013 applications are due no later than Friday, April 19, 2013. Cycle Two 2013 applications are due no later than Friday, September 13, 2013.

Jewel-Osco provides support for not-for-profit (501c3) organizations that help create healthy, thriving communities. Grants are available in three areas: Hunger Relief, Health and Nutrition, and Environmental Stewardship. Health and Nutrition includes promoting nutrition education and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through diet.

2012: Peninsula Health Care District

Community Health Grants Program

The purpose of the Peninsula Health Care District's Community Health Grants Program is to invest in nonprofit, community focused programs, services, and interventions that serve to improve the health status of San Mateo County residents. Program priorities include childhood obesity and nutrition. Nonprofit agencies interested in applying for funding should submit a Letter of Intent describing their proposed project. The Community Health Investment Committee will review the Letters of Intent and determine which organizations will be asked to submit Full Proposals.

Award Amount: $10,000 - $50,000
