Indiana Healthy Weight Initiative |
The Indiana State Department of Health’s Healthy Communities Division is requesting applications from Indiana elementary school principals to apply for training in the evidence-based SPARK Active Recreation program.
One hundred elementary schools will be selected to participate in 3 hours of training on implementation of the SPARK curriculum and be provided the program manuals, CDs and a $500 equipment voucher. In addition, the schools chosen will receive up to $75 to reimburse the costs of substitute teachers, if necessary.
Selected representatives from each recipient school will be responsible for attending one (1) of five (5) regional training workshops being offered throughout Indiana in September and October of 2011. The value of this opportunity is worth more than $1,600 and includes ongoing technical support from the SPARK training staff and the ISDH Schools Coordinator for the Healthy Communities Division.
This initiative is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Communities Putting Prevention to Work: State and Territorial Initiative (STI) and is administered through the Indiana State Department of Health Healthy Communities Division.
Deadline to Apply: June 10th
