Seasonal Marketing Specialist

Job summary

This individual will serve as the Seasonal Marketing Specialist while the SPARK Marketing Manager is on maternity leave. The primary focus will be on managing ongoing marketing efforts that lead to greater brand awareness and increased demand for products.  Areas of responsibility include marketing support for the sales force, direct marketing, marketing communications, art directing, and monitoring the marketing budget.

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Works as a liaison among multiple internal departments and external vendors to ensure all marketing projects are managed efficiently and revenue goals are met
  • Executes marketing strategy (based on yearly marketing plan), ensures clear and consistent brand identity, creates marketing messages
  • Executes promotion efforts through various media platforms including, but not limited to:
    • print collateral
    • email campaigns
    • website development
    • digital advertising
    • social media
    • public relations
    • event marketing
    • SEO & paid search
    • Direct mail
    • Others as needed
    • Directs art team, providing project assignments and feedback on artwork
    • Develops initiatives and materials to support sales reps at all stages of the selling process
    • Determines messaging and writes copy for marketing materials and selling tools
    • Provides recommendations regarding pricing and promotional offers
    • Monitors marketing budget
    • Exercises care within work environment to prevent injuries.  Support and follow all company safety policies and procedures  (for individual contributors)

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications; Master's degree preferred
  • 3+ years marketing experience

Knowledge/Skills required

  • Team player with the ability to work effectively with others at all levels inside and outside the organization; collaborative style; leadership skills
  • Experience and/or knowledge of physical education, physical activity, health and/or wellness (preferred)
  • Creative problem-solver, strategic thinker, hands-on approach, attention to detail
  • Ability to write, speak, and communicate effectively
  • Experience writing social media content, press releases, and newsletters
  • Experience with various social media platforms (including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and scheduling (Hootsuite)
  • Experience with digital marketing and paid search campaigns
  • Experience working with graphic artists, providing direction for new projects and feedback on artwork
  • Experience with or in-depth knowledge of the PreK-12 education market, including curriculum, supplementary products, and classroom resources (preferred)

Position Type: Seasonal—Full-Time Hourly Non-Exempt (open to Part-Time availability too)

Work Period: Now through approximately mid-February 2015.

Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm (with some flexibility if needed)
